The Crow and the Pot of Water
Once upon a time, in a sunny green forest filled with tall trees and colorful flowers, there lived a clever little crow named Corby. Corby was shiny black with sparkling eyes that looked curious about everything around him. One hot summer day, Corby felt very thirsty and decided to find some fresh, cool water to drink.
Corby’s Thirsty Adventure
The sun shone brightly in the blue sky, making the forest warm and dry. Corby flapped his wings and flew over the meadow. “Where can I find some water?” he wondered, his tiny beak opening a little from the heat. Suddenly, Corby noticed something shining near the big oak tree. It was a metal pot, half-buried in the ground.
Corby swooped down and perched on the edge of the pot. “Maybe there’s water inside,” he thought happily. He looked inside and saw a little bit of water, but it was very low, far down at the bottom of the pot.
The Crow and the Pot of Water: A Clever Plan
Corby wanted to drink, but his beak was too short to reach the water at the bottom of the pot. He dipped his beak in, but couldn’t touch the little puddle far down. Corby felt sad for a moment but then remembered something his grandmother had said: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
That meant if Corby really wanted something, he could figure out how to get it if he tried hard enough.
Corby Finds a Solution
Corby looked around carefully. Near the pot, the ground was covered with tiny, shiny pebbles. He thought, “Maybe if I drop some pebbles into the pot, the water will rise and I can reach it!”
With a determined flap, Corby picked up a small pebble in his beak. He dropped it into the pot with a little plunk. Then another pebble, and another. Slowly, the water started to move up higher and higher inside the pot.
While Corby worked, the forest seemed to watch him kindly. Birds chirped softly, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves. Corby didn’t give up, even when his beak felt tired and his wings fluttered.
How Corby Solved the Problem Step by Step
– Step 1: Corby spotted the pot with some water inside.
– Step 2: He tried to reach the water but it was too low.
– Step 3: He remembered, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
– Step 4: Corby found small pebbles nearby.
– Step 5: He dropped pebbles into the pot, one by one.
– Step 6: The water level rose higher as pebbles filled the pot.
– Step 7: Corby was able to drink the cool water at last.
The Magical Lesson of Determination
As Corby drank the fresh water, he felt very happy. He looked up at the sky and thought, “Because I didn’t give up, I found a way.” That day, Corby learned something special—if you keep trying and don’t give up, you can solve even tricky problems.
The sunlight danced across the leaves, and the forest seemed to whisper, “Well done, little crow!” Corby smiled and flapped his wings, ready for more adventures.

The lesson from Corby’s story is important: whenever something looks hard or impossible, remember that if you try hard and keep believing in yourself, you can find a way to succeed. Just like Corby, the clever crow, showed us: where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Now, close your eyes and dream of magical forests and clever little crows who find solutions to every problem, because they never give up!
Goodnight, little dreamer.
